NBL1 Women’s Head Coach Appointment 2022

The Warwick Senators are pleased to announce that Jonelle Morley has been re-signed as the Women’s Head Coach for NBL1 West 2022.

Jonelle will enter her second season as Head Coach following a great first season at the helm including making a semi-final appearance.

Jonelle said “In 2021 we wanted to produce a style of game that was ‘fun to watch and fun to play’. Athletes are more likely to have success both as individuals and as a team if they are enjoying what they are doing. Enjoyment and success look different for everyone, and I pride myself on getting the most out of each player, by understanding what their drive is. 2021 was a big year, and we fell just short of a Grand Final opportunity. We have a committed group of players, and a coaching team who can’t wait to go one better in 2022.”

“We have seen great on-court and off-court development of both our senior and junior players under Jonelle’s leadership” said General Manager Michael Norman. “Jonelle is a quality person, a gifted coach and an incredible communicator. We are especially proud to have a female Head Coach and want to inspire young women with our players and our coach selections.”

Jonelle said “I feel extremely honoured and fortunate to have been given this opportunity at a club where I grew up spending so much of my time. I am keen to provide similar opportunities and experiences that I was involved in, to the many young women coming through our Warwick program today. My own values align closely to those of the club, and I believe strongly in building that third place community where people can come and feel safe, welcomed and a part of something bigger.”

We look forward to a great 2022 NBL1 West season and will be making player announcements in the near future.
