WABL

The Western Australian Basketball League (WABL) is the premier junior basketball competition in WA, providing a pathway for young athletes to develop their skills and compete at a high level. Teams are grouped by age and skill, playing home and away games throughout the season. WABL’s main objectives are to promote fair play, skill development, teamwork, and a love for basketball, while offering opportunities for players to progress to higher levels of competition.

The Western Australian Basketball League (WABL) features a variety of clubs and their home venues across the state.

WABL games are hosted at each club’s home venue in a Home and Away season, providing opportunities for young athletes to compete in a professional environment throughout the season. Each age group (U12/U14/U16/U18 Boys & Girls, U20 Men/U21 Women) consists of 6 Divisions from Championship Division (D1) to Division 6 made up of 8-10 teams per division (D6 may have up to 12 teams competing). Games are played across a Sunday from morning to night.

Each division has an independent ladder with the top eight teams qualifying for finals at the end of the season with each division having a divisional champion. The Under 14 Championship teams also could qualify for the National Championships with a qualifying tournament held in late March for eligible teams. The National Championships are held following the conclusion of the WABL season in each given year.
