what is wabl?
The Western Australian Basketball League (WABL) is WA’s premier junior basketball league.
WABL is comprised of 13 basketball associations from as far north as Joondalup, east to Mundaring and south to Bunbury.
Warwick Senators has 35 (16 x girls and 19 x boys) teams in the 2024 WABL competition.
WABL Basketball requires a year-long commitment:
- Trials: Held in October and November, with 3-4 tryout sessions per age group. Teams are selected by a panel and age-level coaches.
- State Championships: In November and December, this tournament is part of the WABL selection process.
- Pre-Season Training: Between November and March (including school holidays), this period includes practice games, pre-grading, and grading games to determine each team’s competition level.
- Competition Season: Running from April to September (possibly including school holidays), teams play home and away games on Sundays, traveling across metropolitan Perth and regional WA.
