State Champs 2021

OUR 2021 STATE CHAMPS TRIALS HAVE NOW BEEN COMPLETED

There is a change to the State Champs and WABL Tryout process for 2021/22.

State Champs tryouts are an open tryout which means that anyone can nominate to tryout. However, due to the large number of players trialing at Senators (particularly for our boys teams) there are two pathway’s. Please read fully to ensure you select the correct pathway.

  1. Boys U11-19 Domestic/Non-Senator Players: If you are a boy in under 11-19’s (Born 2003-2013) and wish to be considered for selection for State Champs 2021 or WABL 2022 and you have NOT represented Senators in WABL for 2021, you MUST attend the following tryouts:
Monday 4th October 9am-11am, and Tuesday 5th October 9am-11am. Registrations CLOSED
  2. Senators WABL 2021 Players, Girls U11-19 Domestic Non/Senators Players & Shortlisted Boys Players: This pathway is only available to Girls competing in U11-19’s (Born 2003-2013), Senators WABL Players in 2021 and invited players from the Boys Domestic/Non-Senators tryouts mentioned above. Registrations CLOSED

You will be able to enrol up to 30 minutes prior to your session starting.

If you are unable to play State Champs in 2021 but would still like to be considered for WABL in 2022 and you didn’t play WABL for Senators in 2021, you will need to participate in the tryout process. Please advise when registering that you will not be playing so we are aware.

If you are unable to make a tryout but would still like to be considered then you must apply for an exemption in written form. These will only be considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure a fair evaluation process. Please fill out the contact form below with all relevant information to be considered including the athletes experience and reason for exemption.

Tryouts for WABL in 2022 will be a closed tryout. Attendance will be by invitation only.

All players who are selected for a State Champs team in 2021, are selected for a WABL team in 2021 and not able to play state champs, and those shortlisted in previous tryouts will be invited to trial.

This means that if you would like to be considered for a Senators WABL team in 2022 you must participate in the State Champs trial process even if you are unable to play.

WABL Tryouts will commence on January 30th 2022. Exact dates and times to follow.

The season starts in April and runs through to September which includes midweek training and games on Sunday’s.

To participate in the Trials for Boys U11-19 Domestic or Non-Senators Players please click through to the registration form below.
The costs of these trials is $20 and is non-refundable.
Registrations are now CLOSED

Following the Pathway 1 trials you will receive an email by Friday 8th October either inviting you to participate in Pathway 2 tryout or advising that you were not shortlisted.

The following tryout dates are only available to Girls competing in U11-10 (Born 2003-2013), Senators WABL Players in 2021 and invited players from the Boys Domestic/Non-Senators tryouts mentioned above.
The cost is $10 per session and is payable prior to the start of each session.

Due to the large number of athletes interested and limited positions the tryout process is highly competitive.

A panel of coaches assess athletes across a range of skills and athleticism. Coaches discuss all athletes before forming teams. Please note that due to the large number of athletes who tryout it is often not possible to provide individual feedback on a player.

State Champs: Teams are selected during the October trial process. In the event there are more players trying out than positions available, some players will not be successful. Selection in a State Champs teams does not guarantee selection in a WABL Team for 2022.

WABL: Those who played WABL for Senators in 2021, State Champs for Senators in 2021 and those shortlisted from Non-Senators Tryouts in 2021 will be selected for WABL by invitation.
